The Ohio State University and UK's Royal Shakespeare Company have joined in an international partnership to promote literacy, drama education, and leadership in Ohio public schools. Teachers from Reynoldsburg City Schools, Columbus City Schools and Metro Early College High School are participating in a three-year teacher education program based on the RSC's Stand Up for Shakespeare program.
To date 38 Ohio public schoolteachers - including 14 Reynoldsburg teachers of grades 3-12 - and 10 Ohio State Department of Theatre MFA acting students have traveled to Stratford-upon-Avon England to work with RSC actors and educators. Reynoldsburg is integrating its Stand Up for Shakespeare work in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) instruction as well as traditional classrooms throughout the district.
