District performance improves

Reynoldsburg students made more than a year's worth of academic gains last school year, according to school performance results released by the Ohio Department of Education.

The state's Value-Added rating tells parents and community members whether their schools have provided a year's worth of growth in a year's time. Reynoldsburg's district rating is "Above," meaning that the district exceeded expectations.

Reynoldsburg met the state indicators for all testing last year, including both the Ohio Achievement Tests taken by children in grades 3-8 and the Ohio Graduation Test. Reynoldsburg also met state requirements for graduation rates.

The state department did not release attendance rates for school districts, although Reynoldsburg is confident, based on preliminary data, that the district will meet the attendance requirement.

The state department also did not release Performance Index scores, which measure whether students are achieving at advanced and accelerated levels. Reynoldsburg officials are projecting that the district's PI score will improve by one point, exceeding the target of 100 for the second, consecutive year.

Reynoldsburg is poised, based on the data that was released, to earn the highest rating available: "Excellent with Distinction."

We are exceptionally proud of what our students have accomplished. Great job, Raiders!
