Reynoldsburg City Schools' students in the eSTEM Academy at the RHS Summit Campus, Baldwin Road Junior High and Summit Elementary, along with the Confucius Institute at East Central Ohio Education Center partnered to host a Chinese New Year celebration for students from nine Ohio school districts to honor the Year of the Rooster.
Chinese New Year officially began Jan. 28 and the colorful festivities last approximately 15 days. The event included learning six interactive cultural stations where students learned calligraphy, lantern making, martial arts, Chinese knotting, fun with chopsticks and Chinese traditional dress. Lunch was authentic Chinese food and the event culminated with a performance from Summit Elementary School and a Lion Dance from a local performing arts troupe.
