Famous Movie Star Visits WRMS

Teams Musketeers and Boilermakers from Waggoner Road Middle School's 5th and 6th grade class met a very special visitor to talk to them about engineering and the design process. Mr. Bickert, a Reynoldsburg resident, brought R2D2 from Star Wars to demonstrate building a robot and how he went through the very design process WRMS students use to build a movie-ready robot.

The Design Process follows a five step plan: Imagine, Plan, Design, Improve and Share. Mr. Bickert explained that as a child, he was a huge Star Wars fan and dreamt of building his own R2D2. He went through each step and introduced the students to his robot, which is registered with Lucas Films and could be used in any Star Wars movie.

Mr. Bickert will be presenting at additional schools throughout our District including Herbert Mills and Slate Ridge Elementary Schools.
