District Rechecking Report Card Data

by Pamela Willis

With the second phase of the state report card expected by Feb. 25, Reynoldsburg school district officials are checking and rechecking state test results to find mistakes and file appeals with the Ohio Department of Education -- before the data affects final letter grades.

Jana Alig, director of school improvement and accountability, said she has found some mistakes.

"The Reynoldsburg results have had some inaccuracies with student test scores, such as high school end-of-course exams taken by our middle-level students, not reporting to the correct schools," she said. "We have reviewed our results and have submitted appeals to the Ohio Department of Education.

"We believe the errors will be corrected," she said.

The ODE released a partial report card last month, showing district and individual building grades for graduation rates and K-3 literacy, based on state tests given during the 2014-15 school year.

The second set of report-card data is expected to list grades for achievement, gap closing and progress, along with information on gifted students and district financial expenditures.
