Three Eastland Career Center Culinary Arts Academy students won gold medals at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference held last week, April 22-24 at OSU’s Ohio Union and the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
Kate Neumann of Reynoldsburg BELL Academy and her 3 person team took silver in the statewide FCCLA championship. The teams had to create and present the same menu of chicken with honey, soy and ginger, pickled ginger Asian pear slaw, bok choy, multi-grain pilaf and steamed green tea cakes with black sesame seeds.
In addition, the Eastland Culinary Arts Academy was honored with the President’s Chapter Volunteer Service Award for more than 1,000 service hours for the 2014-2015 term.
Reynoldsburg's Kayla Hill and Kate Neumann were honored with individual Presidential Service Awards for volunteering their time to charitable causes. They also received a letter of congratulations from President Obama.
