Meet Debbie Dunlap: BOE Vice President
BOE VP Debbie Dunlap
Twenty years ago, Debbie Dunlap chose Reynoldsburg as home, to start a family, and raise her children.  "Because I recognize the importance of a good education, being involved in my children’s schools has always been a big part of my life," she said. As a result, Mrs. Dunlap decided to be an advocate and help foster a quality education not only for her children, but the nearly 7,000 who attend our schools here in Reynoldsburg.  "Not only do I want a safe and quality learning environment for our children, but one that will help provide opportunities to all of our students, molding them into a well-rounded citizen who will value and appreciate life," she explained.

As a result, Mrs. Dunlap, after serving as a radio news reporter, newspaper reporter and public affairs officer for nearly three decades, is now a freelance writer and substitute teacher in the Licking Heights School District.  She has spent two years serving on the Board of Education for Reynoldsburg City Schools, and was elected to the role of Vice President this year.

"My favorite part of being a BOE member is interacting with our students on a weekly basis. Sure, the decision-making part of this position is extremely important – and often difficult.  So the shot in the arm for me is spending time with our kids, experiencing their excitement, and being reenergized by their youth and enthusiasm," she said.

Mrs. Dunlap is married to her husband Bob and they have three children (two enrolled in RCS and one graduate now attending DePauw University in Indiana).  Mrs. Dunlap loves to travel, and spent several years in Germany. In fact, she traveled to 17 countries for both work and pleasure, the smallest being Liechtenstein with a population of only 37,000.
