WRMS Takes a Stand Against Bullying
Mr. Bisenius addresses WRMS Waggoner Road Middle School is addressing bullying head on this year, and started with a workshop by Jim Bisenius, founder and presenter of Bully-Proofing Youth, a practical and effective program that empowers children and adolescents to eliminate bullying from their lives.

Mr. Bisenius met with WRMS students during the day and then hosted a parent workshop in the evening. The workshop focuses on teaching kids to alter their body language from "fear" to "cool" to take away the reactions that bullies seek.  Parents are then taught skills how to help their child deal with bullies without putting them at risk.

"This workshop kicks off a year-long strategy to reduce or prevent bullying in schools," said WRMS Principal Christopher Brooks. "We are also going to introduce the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) which is designed to improve peer relations and make schools safer, more positive places for students to learn and develop."

OBPP's main goals aim to:
  • Reduce existing bullying problems among students
  • Prevent the development of new bullying problems
  • Achieve better peer relations at school

Reynoldsburg City Schools is partnering with parent groups and other community members to make anti-bullying a priority for the District. For more information, visit BullyProofingYouth.com or OBPP's website: violencepreventionworks.org
