Reynoldsburg High School Graduation By the Numbers

535 graduates. More than $8.7 million in scholarships. Almost 4,000 college credits. 61 internships. More than 50 Valedictorians. One 15 year old that earned her Associate Degree and diploma.

These are just some of the impressive statistics coming from Reynoldsburg High School’s Class of 2017.

In addition to the above numbers, each Academy had stories and achievements to tell.

Danya Hamad, of the BELL Academy, was the youngest Columbus State Community College graduate in history, earning her Associate Degree and high school diploma. She plans to enter Capital University as a junior and will study to become a lawyer.

HS2 Senior, Darius Montero participated in the Nationwide Children's Hospital MD Camp last summer.  He worked with medical professionals, medical students, and other high school students researching injuries obtained by children while playing sports.  His mentor was so impressed by his work that he was asked to write a full-length paper on his research which they are looking to get published in a peer review journal.

eSTEM Seniors were a part of a Leo Club that was recognized as the best in the state. Seniors of the Academy were also part of the first Robotics team to earn a place at the World Championships.

Encore Senior Joey Russell will enter Ohio University to study media arts, and has enough credits from CCAD and CCSC that if OU accepts them all, he will technically have finished his first year of college. He received a fine arts and academic scholarship and applied for several local scholarships as well.

On Tuesday, May 23, 2017, the graduates walked into the Schottenstein Center as “Pomp and Circumstance” played, friends and family cheering.

The Senior Choir performed the Alma Mater and “Oceans and Stars” and each Academy had a senior speaker, recognized the Valedictorians and those who participated in college credit, capstone and internship classes.

It was a joyous occasion and for the first time ever, live streamed on the RCS website, where more than 2,000 people tuned in to watch the graduates accept their diplomas.

Our students are graduating prepared for the next step in life. We are excited to follow their journey. Congratulations to the Class of 2017!
