Every RCS school, sports team, club or organization know how hard it is to get affordable, quality spirit wear. Often times, businesses make minimum orders large numbers or the price for a good t-shirt is out of budget. That's where the R-Design class, comprised of sophomores, juniors and seniors at RHS' BELL Academy can help. Simply by emailing
[email protected], the 12-student team can design, print and deliver t-shirts, sweatshirts and more to promote your message.
Taeveyon, a junior, is part of the Management Team of R-Design. He, along with the Operations and Design Teams can fulfill orders as small as 10 items, which is great for smaller clubs or teams that need t-shirts without breaking the bank. "Prices vary, but we try to be competitive with local businesses," said R-Design teacher Ms. McGowan. "Our goal is to make $12,000 in sales this year."
Taeveyon said last year, one of their clients was Reynoldsburg Parks and Recs, and he spoke about how the class puts you in a business mindset. "This class teaches you how to run a business," he said. "You work as a team and it gives you good communication skills, when you work with outside companies to produce a product for them."
The press, which occupies most of the classroom at Livingston Campus, can print 6 shirts at a time and each shirt takes about 2 minutes to complete. The students gave a demonstration of the press and monitor the process every step of the way, ensuring that measurements are correct and each shirt comes out as designed.
The class made shirts for the Raiders Spike Out Cancer Volleyball Tournament, Student Council and are in the process of making spirit wear for Juniors and Seniors. Teachers have even come to the class asking for a sweatshirt for them to wear!
