Miss Teen Reynoldsburg Has Her Eye on the World
Dipisha, BELL Sophomore
Normally when you think of pageants, you picture evening gowns, a talent competition and lots of glitter. But one BELL Academy sophomore has found a way to use pageants as a way to discuss issues that are near and dear to her heart.

Dipisha is already Miss Teen Reynoldsburg and is about to compete for Miss Teen Ohio. She applied to represent the City and went through several rounds of interviews before she was awarded the title. She met the other contestants who will also be vying to represent Ohio and hopefully go on to Miss Teen USA.

"I'm not a big pageant person, there are lots of people who have more experience than me," said Dipisha. "But I'm using this opportunity to talk about my non profit that I hope to get off the ground before I graduate high school, which is to help provide women and girls in third world countries educational opportunities and resources."

CWE, or Children's and Women's Education is the name of her non-profit that she started because "I'm very close with my mom and I know how much of a struggle it was for her to get to school in her small village in Nepal," said Dipisha. "A lot of kids, especially girls, do not have access to education and I want to change that."

CWE's first school will be in Nepal, where Dipisha and her family are from. The pageant is " a great platform to give me a voice for education and mental health issues, which are important topics in South Asian culture," she said.

In addition to competing in Miss Teen Ohio, Dipisha is a member of Mr. Brown's Superintendent's Advisory Council, on the leadership board for Student Council and on the Yearbook Staff. Dipisha hopes to attend Harvard University and study law or child psychology.
