Superheroes Save the Environment
HAMS SuperheroesThis year, Summer School students at Hannah Ashton Middle School took on a challenge of epic proportion: How do we as a community manage waste in order to improve the environmental quality in Reynoldsburg? Using a superhero theme, students formed two teams, “Justice League” and “Marvels” to address this challenge using math, reading, research and problem solving. Guest speakers and field trips helped to develop an understanding of the factors that influence our environment and ways to reduce waste in their community. Students were tasked to create either an advertisement or product to encourage residents of the Reynoldsburg to improve the environment.  They presented their projects to a guest panel of judges including Mr. Barga from the RCS Board of Education, members of the City of Reynoldsburg, Mr. Cotner, Councilman as well as members of the PAST Foundation and HAMS PTO. Presentations were judged on the quality, content, and research tools used in their presentations.  Thank you to all of the judges and congratulations to all of our students!

Both teams had winners, but the true winner in this project is the environment!
