HAMS Students are YouTube Stars!
HAMS TEDx Youth Presenters
Who doesn't want to be a YouTube sensation? The thrill of a picture or video going "viral" is one factor that makes social media fun. Ten students from Hannah Ashton Middle School might discover what it's like to have a presence on YouTube.

Over the past school year, the 7th grade class at Hannah Ashton Middle School wrote and recorded their own original TEDX Youth Talk addressing a problem that affects young people in their school, neighborhood, community or city and how they would solve it. The presentations were evaluated by teachers on two rubrics- one for content and one for oral presentation.

The top 21 presentations were  then selected to present in class to "audition" for a spot to be in to the top 10. The top 10 studentswere  selected to present their talks at TEDxYouth@HAMS, which a licensed TEDx Youth Event. The school, which also hosts an official TED-Ed club, and uses the curriculum with their students, applied and were selected for the license.

If you missed the presentations in March, you can view them again on YouTube! The presentations were edited and submitted to the TED organization, and all 10 were selected to be published on TED's YouTube Channel, which has more than 18 Million viewers.

TEDx events for kids and youth bring together educators, youth organizations and young people for live presentations, activities and storytelling that encourage learning about and experiencing the world in new and different ways. The TEDx format works to engage and inspire kids, and to highlight young voices from diverse communities.

Topics ranged from dealing with stress and anxiety to keeping art in schools, from phone addiction to gun violence and more. To view each of the 10 submissions, click on the following links. Congratulations to these students and their teachers for a job well done!
