Bright Smiles, Fun Times Illuminate Carnival Space
by Pamela Willis

Despite it looking like winter outside, children bounced in several bounce houses inside Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church, stood in line for cotton candy and marched in cakewalks.

Other kids crowded into game rooms, watched a balloon artist make elongated animals and silly hats or stepped just outside the back doors to play in the video game truck Jan. 30 at a Winter Carnival to benefit Hannah Ashton Middle School.

Dennis Franko, director of worship arts and events, said the church and congregation were being "good neighbors" to the middle school.

"They are our neighbors after all, and we know they have a lot of families in need," he said. "We have helped to provide backpacks and school supplies in the past and hope to continue our great partnership."

Volunteers from the church congregation and the school manned concession booths and game rooms, helped children into the bounce houses and provided a general atmosphere of fun.

Parents snapped photos, walked with children in the cakewalk and bid on silent auction items, raising more than $1,000 for the school.
