Did you know you can do Study Island at HOME?
Coming Up:
March 17- Leprechaun Traps are due. Directions went home on March 8th. Students should include at least two simple machines and write a paragraph about how their trap works. They need to describe the machines they used. Extra credit for those who catch a leprechaun!!
April 19 Reading OAT
April 21 Math OAT
Please ensure your child completes the March Calendar for each day of the month (even weekends). We really hope to have 100% turned in at the end of the month. We haven't accomplished that goal yet.
This week,
- We are examining fractions and comparing them
to each other. This is a very difficult subject for most eight and nine year olds. Kids that have a firm understanding of multiplication and division tend to do well with fractions. If your child is having trouble, please refer to the parent letter attached to the homework packet and know that this topic will spiral around again and again in the next few years. Remember, it is better to help your child understand his or her homework, than to say, "It's your work---you do it." It is a direct practice of what we're doing in class.
-We are working on drawing conclusions,
inferential questions, and stated and implied themes. Now is the crunch time before the OAT (OAA) test.
Weekly quizzes include DLR and MF (Memory Fact). Remember that the Memory Fact is the only spelling 'list' they get each week. The grades for spelling will not only be from the MF, but also from daily writing and project writing.
Have a fantastic week!
