MISSION OF THE TAYLOR ROAD
GUIDANCE & COUNSELING PROGRAM

The goals of our guidance program are to help students develop socially, emotionally and academically and to maintain the safe and positive climate of our school. Research shows that social-emotional learning helps students achieve academically and improves positive behavior of students. My current responsibilities include:

Classroom GuidanceMonthly lessons on study skills, bully prevention, social skills and the character words. Students often get tags with the character words to add to their collections.

  • Small Groups - These groups meet for 6 - 8 weeks on specific topics such as friendship, divorce, grief, and self-control.

  • Individual Counseling - Students may meet with me individually to discuss concerns. Referrals may be made to outside counseling for ongoing or family concerns.

  • Character Education: Lessons on the Terrific Tornado Traits, Student-of-the-Month Recognition, and 4th Grade Character Council (check out the Character Council page for information and more pictures!).
