As this new school year begins, we are beginning to review vowel sounds, word families and writing basic sentences in language arts. Currently we are screening children to discover their reading level before we begin reading groups.
During math time, we are reviewing addition and subtraction facts. Now is a good time for your children to practice with their flashcards at home. Fact families are important to recognize like:
5+4 = 9 4+5 = 9 9-5 = 4 9-4 = 5
We begin the year with social studies learning about rules, laws and their purposes. We will also look at basic American symbols like the flag, the Washington Monument and other.
