Mrs. Hosste's Second Graders

I want to start by thanking all the parents and students who attended our Orientation Night and Ice Cream Social.  We had an amazing turnout!  If you were unable to attend you can view the handouts from the meeting at the bottom of this page.  If you are unable to view it please let me know and I will send home a copy with your child.

 It has been such a pleasure getting to know and work with all your children.  They have done a great job making the transition from first grade!  We have been busy completing reading screeners and getting a handle on the new routines.

Horseshoe Homework

Each evening your child is expected to read for 15 minutes and complete the practice page that will be in their take-home folder.  After the children have completed their homework, please encourage them to show you their planner book, their behavior chart and their reading log.  After you have looked those items over please mark your intials on all 3 so that I know you had the opportunity to discuss these items with your child.  It is not necessary for the children to write the title or page numbers from their reading.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to call me or send me an email.

Good Buckeye Behavior

These second graders are wonderful Taylor Road citizens!  Whenever I see the boys and girls displaying outstanding character traits they will be given a rainbow card.  When they earn 4 rainbow cards they can choose a reward from our list.  In addition, at the close of each schoolday I will put all the names of those students that kept their card on green that day in a coffee can.  One of the helping hands will pull a name and that child can pick a reward from the list.  When the entire class remains on green we earn a puzzle piece.  When the entire puzzle is completed the class is in for a special surprise!

Tuesday:  Music     Wednesday:  Library     Thursday:  Phys. Ed.     Friday:  Computer Lab

**All specials will begin at 1:25 and end at 2:05.  Please send your child with their library books on Wednesday mornings and gym shoes on Thursday.
