Dear Taylor Road Families,

I hope you are having a wonderful summer. As summer break comes to a close, it is time to start preparing for the 2009-2010 school year.

Last year was another stellar year of achievement for Taylor Road Elementary. I am proud to announce that our school achieved the Excellent with Distinction rating by the Ohio Department of Education. The state report card only confirms what we already knew: Taylor Road Elementary is an excellent place to learn!

This year, there are many changes and challenges facing us. However, I am convinced that the strength and character of this community will prevail and our school will achieve excellence for the fifth straight year. Whether you are returning to our school or this year begins your relationship with us, I invite you to become involved in school activities and with our PTO.

Very soon, each grade level will be hosting an Orientation Night. The schedule is as follows:

Kindergarten - 8/20 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm (AM) and 6:45 until
7:45 pm (PM)
First Grade - 8/19 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm
Second Grade - 8/20 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm
Third Grade - 8/25 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm
Fourth Grade - 8/19 from 7:00 pm until 7:45 pm

All families are invited to the Ice Cream Social on August 25th from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm.

Our school day will begin at 8:50 am. The earliest time for student arrival will be 8:40 am. Students will be dismissed at 3:20 pm. Morning kindergarten runs 8:50-11:20 am and afternoon kindergarten runs 12:50-3:20 pm. Please remember that, at this time, no school busses will be serving Taylor Road Elementary. It is the parents' responsibility to get the children to school on time. Thank you for doing your part to ensure that students are in class and ready to learn on time every day.

We will have staggered start for all students. Only students whose last names begin with A-L will come to school Monday, August 24th. Only
students whose last names begin with M-Z will come to school Tuesday, August 25th. All students will attend school Wednesday, August 26th.

Quick Words and Draw and Write Journals will be available for purchase from the school store. The complete supply list in on the district's website, reyn.org. Please check the list before you shop as the stores do not always use the most recent version.

Class lists will be posted on the front doors by Monday, August 17th. Stop by to see who your child's teacher will be this year. Much time was spent in careful planning for balanced classes taking into consideration the parent input forms submitted last spring. If you have any questions, please contact me via voice mail or email.

If you are interested in registering your child for the latchkey program, please contact Rainbow Station at 575-5055.

Lunch prices remain the same at $1.65 per day. Breakfast is offered from 8:40 am until 8:47 am for $.75 per day.

School fees are $12.50 for kindergarten and $25 for first through fourth grade. Please make out a check to Taylor Road Elementary.
