Applying for the Educational Aide Permit
- Once you have been given an offer, go to https://auth.ohid.ohio.gov/login and make or sign in to your OH|ID account.
- Click the App Store.
- Choose Educator Licensure and Records (CORE).
- Click Apply for New Credential.
- Pick Educational Aides (1 year) if this is your first license.
- When asked for the Superintendent Signature, click Find and enter this number: 047001 (Reynoldsburg City Schools).
- Upload your college transcripts (if you have college credit).
- Finish the application and pay the $25 application fee. (They will not submit your permit application until you submit payment.)

If you are hired as an elementary school, specialized or library paraprofessional, you also need to meet the ESEA requirement. You can do this in one of these ways:
- Have an associate degree (or higher)
- Finish at least 48 semester hours of college classes
- Pass the Ohio ParaPro Test

How to Apply

What the Role Involves
- Safely operate a school bus along assigned routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure bus safety and cleanliness.
- Load and unload students at bus stops, assisting younger or special‑needs riders as needed.
- Report any maintenance issues to the transportation shop.
- Maintain a positive, professional attitude with students, parents, and school staff.
- Participate in required training, safety meetings, and continuing education or certification updates.
Positions & Pay Rates
Full-Time Bus Driver:
- Responsible for assigned school bus routes, transporting students safely to and from school each day.
- Starting Pay Rate w/CDL: $21.75 per hour
Substitute Bus Driver:
- Fill in for regular bus drivers as needed, providing safe, consistent transportation.
- Pay Rate w/CDL: $20.70 per hour
Bus Driver Trainee (while in training):
- Participate in training to obtain CDL or learn routes before taking on full responsibilities.
- Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Getting Started: Training & Credentials
CDL & Endorsements:
- Already have a CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements? Great!
- If not, we help you obtain your CDL, including classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and preparation for the CDL exam.
State Training / Certification:
- Complete pre‑service classes and driver safety training.
- Pass state or district-mandated assessments/certifications as required.
On-the-Job Training:
- Ride along with experienced drivers before taking your route solo.
- Ongoing professional development is provided to ensure safety and success.
Work Schedules & Hours
- Morning routes typically begin early and end mid-morning.
- Afternoon runs start after school lets out and finish mid- to late afternoon.
- Hours vary by route assignment (elementary, middle, high school).
- Opportunities for field trips, shuttle runs, or supplemental driving work for extra pay.
