The National Junior Honor Society is an organization that recognizes students who excel in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. To be eligible you have to be in grades 6-8, attending the school for at least a semester, and have at least a 3.0 g.p.a. If you are eligible, you will receive a letter informing you of what it takes to become a member. You will then be required to fill out a membership application if you are interested in becoming a member.
The application process starts in March and in April all inductees will be selected! Come May, there will be an extremely important ceremony, the Induction Ceremony. At this ceremony members will be inducted with candles, pins, and a certificate proving your membership.
So what is this all done for? Well for starters, you will be part of an amazing organization but you will also have meetings and service projects such as food drives, or bike drives. These things will help you build character and help the community at the same time. Another great thing about the NJSA is that it is student led, meaning the students control what goes on with some guidance from the advisor. Ms. Moore is the coordinator of the NJHS chapter at HAMS. If you have any more questions about the NJHS please contact Ms. Moore in room 146.
