By: Kahdija Charpentier
Romeo & Juliet is a British film and is an alteration of Shakespeare’s romantic misfortune of the same title, Romeo & Juliet. This movie is directed by Carlo Carlei. The movie star’s, Douglas Booth as Romeo Montague, Hailee Steinfeld as Juliet Capulet, Damian Lewis as Lord Capulet, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Benvolio Montague, Ed Westwick as Tybalt, and Paul Giamatti as Friar. It runs for 1 hour and 58 minutes and is currently out in theaters. Their budget for the film was $15 million dollars but they only made $509,000 dollars in the box office.
Romeo & Juliet is about two young people secretly married despite the deep hatred that their families hold for each other. However, it is not long before some events change the lives of both families.
The genre for this film is romance. So if you are into romance this will be the perfect movie for you. I have not yet watched the film that was recently released but I have read the play by Shakespeare and I personally think that the original Romeo & Juliet was outstanding. Hopefully the movie can fulfill my wishes as the original play did. I recommend you watch the movie if you are into that genre and if you have read the book, suspect a little twist to the movie. It is filled with innocent hearts, forbidden desires, sworn enemies, and two people that risk everything for love.
