Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers make our schools great. Educators may call on you as parents to help supervise events or field trips; to read or practice math with individual students; or to help make any number of classroom activities more fun.

If you are interested in volunteering, please click here to fill out an application.

Please continue reading to see what background checks may be required for your volunteering type.

Background Check Without Fingerprinting

All volunteers are required to be background checked. However, type of background check depends on your engagement level and task(s).

For many volunteer opportunities, fingerprinting is not needed. Examples include:

  • Someone who is not regularly unsupervised with children. (Ex. someone who volunteers in the office but doesn’t work with kids)
  • Someone acting as a chaperone on a day field trip (Ex. a parent chaperoning on a trip to the museum or zoo)
  • Someone coming to help in the classroom for a specific day or event, such as a holiday event or field day
  • Someone coming to be a guest teacher, reader or presenter.

If interested, fill out the form above.

Please note:  Any volunteer who comes to the school during regular school hours needs to register through the Raptor Kiosk system and wear the visitor sticker while they are in the building.

Background Check Requires Fingerprinting

For volunteering that is 'unsupervised' and 'regular,' the District requires a background check.

This would include:

  • Someone who volunteers regularly by helping out in the classroom, library, band, etc.
  • Someone who periodically leads a program in which the volunteer is perceived as an authority, such as an after-school program
  • A volunteer chaperoning on an overnight field trip
  • A band parent who helps with the fitting of uniforms or regular band events
  • Anyone leading/coaching a club or sports
  • Coaches must complete a full background check and obtain a Pupil Activity Permit

If this is you, please submit the form above and call to schedule an appointment at the Central Office.
