Flying Cars are the New Black

The OSLN Design Challenge is a statewide initiative open to all K–12 schools in Ohio. This year’s theme asks students to design a plan, system, or product that improves aspects of electric transportation in Ohio. That might include ideas related to electric vehicles, battery manufacturing, drones, advanced air transportation systems, supply-chain logistics, or customer experience.
Students at Summit Road STEM worked in small teams to brainstorm, design, and build solutions. Before the break, they presented their projects to a group of judges from the United Way, COSI, Reynoldsburg City Schools, Express, the Ohio House of Representatives and more. From air taxis to assist people living in rural areas, to drones filling potholes and even a solar-powered snow plow, the students had solutions for many everyday problems.
They were judged on creativity, thought process, and problem-solving skills. The winning team will advance to the Regional competition in 2026.
