RCS Employees, Partners, Schools and Board of Education Recognized at OSBA Fall Conference

The saying “it takes a village” applies to many things, but it certainly takes a village to support the students and families in our District. We’re proud to share that employees, community partners, a school and our Board of Education were recognized with awards at the OSBA Central Region Fall Conference.

Mr. Jim Ramsey, director of safety and security, received the Exemplary School Employee Award. Mr. Ramsey’s commitment to keeping our students and staff safe is second to none. He leads with compassion and professionalism ensuring that security is not just about presence but about prevention, relationships, and proactive support. The trust he and his team have developed with students and staff is rooted in genuine care and consistent visibility in our schools.

City Council Member Bhuwan Pyakurel received the Friends of Public Education Award. Mr. Pyakurel is not only a parent of students in our schools but also a steadfast supporter of educational equity and opportunity. As a long-time participant in district initiatives such as the Superintendent's Parent Congress and our Strategic Planning efforts, he brings thoughtful insight and a deeply rooted commitment to ensuring that all students, especially those from immigrant and underrepresented backgrounds, receive a high-quality education and feel a sense of belonging in our schools.

Summit Road STEM Elementary School was inducted into the Purple Star Schools Class of 2025, for its commitment to supporting students and families connected to our nation’s military. The elementary school also received the MIC3 Challenge Coin from the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission, symbolizing the dedication of easing the educational transitions for military families.

Lastly, the Board of Education earned the OSBA Aptitude Award for demonstrating strong governance skills in key leadership areas like vision, accountability, policy, community engagement and more.

We are #REYNProud of everyone’s accomplishments!
