Recognizing our Retirees

During the May 19, 2026, Board of Education Meeting, Assistant Superintendent of Human Capital Management, Audrey Staton, recognized the 17 RCS Staff who are retiring at the end of the year. "We are so excited to hear what the next chapter is in your journey," she said. "And I'm sure you're excited that there will be no more alarm clocks or staff meetings! But, if you ever decide you want to come back as a sub or volunteer, we would be happy to make that happen."

In total, our 17 retirees served the District for a combined 483 years. Ms. Rebecca Deiderich, Kindergarten Teacher at Rose Hill Elementary School, is retiring after 37 years with Reynoldsburg City Schools. Our 2026 retirees are:

  • Amy Booth, Intervention Specialist, French Run Elementary, 36 years
  • Alyse Clark, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Graham Road Office, 31 years
  • Rebecca Deiderich, Kindergarten Teacher, Rose Hill Elementary, 37 years
  • Rhonda Eberst, Librarian, Summit Road STEM Elementary, 30 years
  • Debra Flaherty, 3rd-grade teacher, Summit Road STEM Elementary, 32 years
  • Lisa Floyd-Jefferson, 7th-grade Math Teacher, STEM Middle at Baldwin Road, 13 years
  • Betsy Fox, Music Teacher for Herbert Mills Steam Elementary and Summit Road STEM Elementary, 32 years
  • Paige Hanf, 4th-grade Math/Science Teacher, Waggoner Road Elementary, 32.5 years
  • Robert Hoyt, Director of Facilities, Graham Road/Business Office, 10 years
  • Erika Karlak, Visual Arts Teacher, RHS Livingston Campus, 34 years
  • Charles Lichtner, 5th-grade Science Teacher, Herbert Mills STEAM Elementary, 24 years
  • Rebecca Love, 1st-grade teacher, Taylor Road Elementary, 33.5 years
  • Irene McLaughlin, Kindergarten Teacher, Summit Road STEM Elementary, 34.5 years
  • JoAngela Slaughter, Math Intervention Teacher, Summit Road STEM Elementary & Taylor Road Elementary, 3 years
  • Jane Stephenson, Teacher, Slate Ridge Elementary, 35 years
  • Jacquelyn Thompson, Campus Leader, RHS Summit Campus, 32 years
  • Cheryl Upperman, ELL Teacher, Slate Ridge Elementary, 34 years
     

When asked what she would do on her first day of retirement, Summit Road STEM Elementary Librarian Ms. Rhonda Eberst said, "Probably sleep in." 

"I get the summers off anyway, so it will probably hit me hardest on the first day of school this August. You might see me peeking into the windows of Mr. Jacobs' office, trying to see everyone coming back to the building," she said.

The Board of Education hosted a reception for the retirees and their families before the Board Meeting. Many former students and community members, such as Mayor Begeny, City Councilwoman Angela Abram and partners from the United Way of Central Ohio came to offer their well wishes.

To our retirees, thank you for your time, dedication and support you have given the students, staff and parents of the District. Thank you for being #REYNProud. We wish you luck and happiness in the next stage of your life!
