May 7, 2020
Dear Reynoldsburg
City Schools Families and Staff,
Earlier this week, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced the need for budget reductions
across-the-board, including to public education, for the Fiscal Year 2020
budget (July 1, 2019- June 30, 2020) due to the COVID19 pandemic and its financial impact on the state.
The District is
currently evaluating the impact this has on the Reynoldsburg City Schools and
early estimates from the State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management indicate
a potential $848,563 required budget reduction over the next 60 days.
This
development is significant and has prompted the full attention of District
leadership. As we receive more information and guidance, we will share it in
the near future. Every district is impacted, and you can see estimated
reductions here.
We
have always worked hard to be fiscally responsible, and together with the RCS
Board of Education, our Treasurer and your support, we will do the very best to
continue to serve our students as equitably as possible. In the meantime,
please continue to practice social distancing and the other measures set forth
by the Governor, so you and your families remain safe and healthy. Thank you for your support and understanding.
Sincerely,
Melvin J. Brown
Superintendent
Reynoldsburg City Schools
