Art, Music and Dance, Oh My!

From jazz hands to downward dog, daisy chains to ballet, RHS' Encore Academy Teacher Mr. Daniels and his counselors have something for everyone at the #REYNExpressions Arts Camp. First and second graders made sun prints with Mrs. Gedert, third and fourth graders got a taste of improv through the Acting Academy and there were jazz hands aplenty with Mr. Dion's Broadway Basics class.

The camp runs through July 1, where, on the final day, parents will be treated to an open house to watch yoga demonstrations, view art, performances and more. "The response to the camp has been amazing," said Mr. Daniels. "More than 100 kids signed up, we had a waiting list and our high school student counselors can earn internship or work credits towards graduation. There is a way for every child of every age to express themselves here."

Bumpin' with BalletMet

Mr. Daniels wanted to give a shout out to KJ, his Counselor of the Week. "He is so great with the kids," he said as KJ led students through the Bumpin with BalletMet class.

Classes rotate so everyone gets a taste of each discipline. In the afternoon, there's been cardio drumming, an African drum performance and Miss Ohio came to speak. When Mr. Daniels asked the Broadway Basics performers what their favorite part of camp was, they said, "art, music and dance!" So, pretty much every part!

Thanks to our staff, partners like BalletMet, our student counselors and participants for making the first #REYNExpressions Art Camp a hit!
