RCS Alum Gives Back Through Raider Radio

The Raider Radio students smiling for a group photo in their recording studioTiffany Wilson, a proud Raider and alum (‘05), has recently taken her expertise and shared it with current students through a unique, hands-on experience.

Following graduation from RHS, Tiffany went on to earn her BA in Broadcast Journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia. During her career, she had the opportunity to work in radio and TV news — including interning for notable organizations such as CNN. Returning home, she started a video production and photography company.

Reynoldsburg High School received a Teach Arts Ohio grant through the Ohio Arts Council, which supports teaching artists in bringing their expertise into K–12 classrooms across the state. Through this initiative, Tiffany partnered with students and Business Teacher Ms. Bragg to teach video production skills through a new student-led podcast called Raider Radio.

During the project, students benefited in a number of ways:

  • Enhanced Communication Skills: Students learned to articulate ideas clearly, conduct interviews, and engage an audience.

  • Team Collaboration: Working together to plan, research, and produce episodes fostered teamwork and leadership skills.

  • Technical Proficiency: Students gained experience in scripting, audio/video production, and editing, preparing them for potential career paths in media.

  • Creative Expression: Raider Radio served as a platform for students to share stories, explore topics relevant to their peers, and express their creativity.

  • Career Exploration: By participating in a practical, media-focused program, students discovered potential interests in journalism, podcasting, or related fields.

Tiffany notes that her role only involved facilitation, assistance and guidance, with students being responsible for everything else — providing them with hands-on experience in research, writing, and public speaking. The six students involved in the program were:

  • Beverly Williams, host

  • Hope Taylor, host

  • Cheikh N'Diaye, cameraperson

  • Jaren Robertson, host

  • Aisha Miller, editor

  • Branden Jackson, cameraperson for sports segment

Although Raider Radio has concluded for now, interested parties are currently exploring new ways to continue the program.
