Dear Raider Families:
There has been some confusion regarding instructional fees heading into the 2022-2023 school year and I want to provide some clarity and explanation as to why these fees are instrumental in providing a quality experience.
Instructional and course fees for students in K-8 total $35 per student per year and the fees for students in grades 9-12 could amount up to $75 per student per year, depending upon the student’s individual schedule. A waived/reduced fee schedule is available to families who qualify by completing the free/reduced lunch application by October 4, 2022. Fees are to be paid by November 1, 2022.
A financial waiver for those families who do not qualify for the above mentioned may request assistance per Board Policy po6152.01
- A parent(s) or guardian who cannot pay school fees may write a letter requesting a waiver of fees to the Superintendent. The letter must contain the following:
- name(s) of student(s)
- name of parent(s) or guardian(s)
- address of parent(s) or guardian(s)
- phone number of parent(s) or guardian(s)
- school where child(ren) attend(s)
- reason for request for waiver of fees
The Superintendent shall have the authority to review the waiver request and request such further information, if any, as s/he deems necessary in order to make a decision on that request.
Music fees for choir, band, orchestra, or marching band are in addition to the instructional and course fees and the waived/decreased fee schedule does not apply.
The instructional fee schedule was adopted by the District in 2019-2020 prior to the initial COVID-19 shutdown. However, in reaction to the one-time federal emergency relief dollars the District received to assist in providing educational services to students during the pandemic, the District did not collect these fees for the past two school years.
The purpose of the instructional and course fees is to fund materials needed throughout the year including individual devices and art and science lab supplies.
RCS has a detailed policy on how the funds are utilized and spent to promote student learning in their courses and schools throughout the year in each student handbook for the 2022-2023 school year. All of that information can also be found in this document available on our website: https://www.reyn.org/StudentFees.aspx
Thank you for your understanding as we continue enhancing our student experiences and maximizing every opportunity for student growth and learning. This year will be a phenomenal year of development and our staff are looking forward to working with your student this year.
