Student Spotlight: Meet Jordan Fisher

We recently sat down with a Raider who is making great strides in both their academic and sports careers. Jordan Fisher, class of 2025, has committed to playing basketball for Ohio University following his graduation. This commitment also includes a full athletic scholarship.

We wanted to learn more about Jordan and his goals, so we asked him a few questions.

What do you like about basketball?Jordan Fisher dunking a basketball
I love basketball because it brings me peace and I believe this is my God-given talent. I come from a basketball family so it’s just in me.

When did you start playing?
Basketball was the reason I took my first steps (trying to put the ball in the hoop), so I like to say I started playing from the time I learned how to walk.

What is your current academic pathway and why?
My current pathway is Allied Health. I chose this because I wanted to learn about the medical field. And how this can connect me to a career outside of basketball.

What do you like to do outside of school?
Outside of school I am a pretty laid-back individual who doesn’t do too much. Most of the time I am in the gym putting shots up/training. When not in the gym, I am with my family or my teammates playing video games. I also do a lot of traveling for AAU [Amateur Athletic Union] which I love because of all the experiences and friendships that I have made over the years.

What career are you working towards?
I am working towards becoming a professional basketball player whether that’s NBA or playing overseas.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Being settled in my career getting paid to play the sport that I love and giving back to the youth of my community.

Why Ohio University?
I chose OU because it is a true family on and off the court. Family is a huge part of who I am and when picking a school I wanted to make sure there was a sense of family/brotherhood amongst the players and coaching staff. I wanted to attend a school where I feel appreciated as a person and not just another basketball player and OU has made me feel that way since they started recruiting me from day one.

Also, OU basketball runs in my family as well. Two of my cousins have played for OU men’s basketball and women’s basketball.

Why are you proud to be a Raider?
I am proud to be a Raider because this is where it all started for me. I have been a Raider since kindergarten. I also have come across some amazing teachers and staff members along my journey as a Raider and some of which continue to follow/support me by attending all of our games.

Jordan has shown true dedication to his team and his sport. Reynoldsburg City Schools is incredibly proud of his work and are looking forward to what he accomplishes in the future!
