RHS Pathways Realignment Committee Presentation
HS Pathways Realignment Presentation
Dear Reynoldsburg City Schools Families,

In December of 2020, The RCS Board of Education Outcomes Committee tasked us with addressing long-term solutions for space, programming and curriculum options for our high school students. Earlier this year, we formed the High School Pathways Realignment Committee, consisting of RCS staff, parents, business partners and community members.

This committee, apprised of approximately 40 stakeholders, met several times and explored career options, college majors, high school efficiencies, equity, and maintaining a “small school experience.” These ideas connected to the Student Learning focus area of our Five-Year Strategic Plan, specifically Action Steps 1 and 3:
  • Action Step 1: Expand courses, pathways, and opportunities that may lead to postsecondary certificates, industry-recognized credentials, or Associate’s Degrees
  • Action Step 3: Equitably develop relevant experiences at all levels to help students explore pathways for high school academies and future career options

You can view our Five-Year Strategic Plan here.

Representatives from the larger Realignment Committee served on a smaller focus group of approximately 15 members to discuss logistics and the pros and cons of specific concepts identified during the December Outcomes Committee Meeting. These groups also considered new ideas that came out of the larger group and smaller focus group.

On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, members of the High School Pathways Realignment Committee presented their concepts to the BOE’s Outcomes Committee. The presentation and recommendation of Concept 3, Create a Focus on Pathways; Some Pathways Are Not Tied to Academies, was supported by the Outcomes Committee. There will be further discussion by the whole Board at the Regular Board of Education Meeting on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

We wanted to share the presentation from the Outcomes Committee meeting with our community. We also wanted to let our community know that work is already underway to make shifts and changes based on the recommendations from the Outcomes Committee. You can view the presentation by clicking on the link below.

We also wanted to thank the 40 stakeholders who worked so hard on this task, all while keeping our students' education in mind. We look forward to sharing updates on this work.

Sincerely,
