RCS Unveils the Center for Deeper Learning

The Center for Deeper Learning combines several departments within the District’s structure including the Office of Innovation, Instructional Coaches and Educational Technology. The new department has a branded logo, and will oversee the District’s Innovation Grants, maker spaces, teaching, learning practices as well as principal and teacher professional development and support.

“In the past, we have separated innovation into its own silo,” said RCS Chief Academic Officer Dr. Jocelyn Cosgrave. “Through the Center for Deeper Learning, we will ensure that innovative teaching practices are a daily expectation instead of something we try from time to time while supporting our teachers so they can support our students.”

The Center for Deeper Learning will use the maker spaces each building has and ensure they have transformative effects on all the students, rather than just those in the classroom, and delve deeper into project-based learning.

“The Center for Deeper Learning will provide support through the lens of our Portrait of a Graduate criteria,” said Cosgrave. “All of these tools- from makerspaces to blended learning initiatives, coaching services to innovative practices and more will support the overall District Mission and help us execute the Five Year Strategic Plan.”

In addition to the new logo, The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Center for Deeper Learning has a Twitter Account @ReynCDL and will tag their tweets using #ReynDeeperLearning.
