RCS Delays Hybrid Model Start Date
September 14, 2020

Dear Reynoldsburg City Schools Families,

The hybrid learning model will not begin on Monday, September 21 as we had originally planned. Now, we will remain with our distance learning model through, at least, the end of the first quarter (which concludes Friday, October 16).

The reasons for staying on distance learning are outside of our District’s control; it is not due to increased COVID-19 cases or health-related circumstances. Rather, some of the third-party resources and classroom infrastructure that we were led to believe would be available to us now are not.

This means that our teachers need additional time to adjust and adapt their classrooms to fully meet the needs of students enrolled in both our in-person hybrid learning model and the virtual academy. It does not mean that the learning models parents chose for their students will change; it does mean that the work within those models for our teachers will change. Our teachers are certainly busy and constantly adjusting and they are just as dedicated to making this work.

For all of us here at Reynoldsburg City Schools, we understand that this may not be ideal for families. We also believe that it is important that we do this right. Students are currently working within the distance learning model and this will allow for them to continue their current learning model in the short term. For the short- and long-term, it means that we will offer the quality of education that our community expects.

Thank you for your understanding and for supporting your child’s education. As we near the start of the second quarter, which officially begins on Monday, October 19, we will reevaluate the conditions and decide on what model we will begin with at that time.

Sincerely,
MJB Signature
