RCS' Center for Deeper Learning Recaps the 2020-21 school year
As part of the District’s Five-Year Strategic plan, Reynoldsburg City Schools students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and achieve their full potential through challenging, engaging and relevant learning experiences.

Despite the challenges presented over the last 12 months, Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Center for Deeper Learning worked tirelessly to advance innovative practices and provide instructional support to reinforce the District’s mission, “Empowering leaders who impact the NOW and innovate the FUTURE.”

Highlights from the Center for Deeper Learning include:
  • New instructional resources implemented throughout the District (K-12)
  • The development, planning and/or revising of student support based on what we’ve learned from transforming education during a pandemic
  • The development of Pathway kits which will impact all students grades 5-8
  • The facilitation of robust professional development for all District staff

Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Center for Deeper Learning was also the focus of a case study from New Tech Network (NTN). The District partnered with NTN, a leading design partner for comprehensive school change, while planning for The 9X Impact, the District’s freshman academy. From there, services and support were expanded to all schools across the District.

Reynoldsburg City Schools has leveraged the NTN partnership to implement Deeper Learning District-wide, including within schools not implementing the NTN school model.

“Most school districts will launch deeper learning initiatives in a school, or with just principals,” said Reynoldsburg City Schools Chief Academic Officer Dr. Jocelyn Cosgrave. “New Tech Network is using Reynoldsburg as a case-study since we have a goal of deeper learning in every classroom, every day.”

In the case study, New Tech Network’s Senior Director, Leadership Development, Jude Garnier said, “Part of our work at New Tech Network is developing leaders that listen to the needs of their staff, students and community, and Reynoldsburg was ready to take on that work.”

RCS’ Center for Deeper Learning combines several departments within the District’s structure including the Office of Innovation, Instructional Coaches and Educational Technology. The department oversees the District’s Innovation Grants, maker spaces, teaching and learning resources, supports, and curriculum as well as principal and teacher professional development and support.
