As many of our seniors and families prepare for the pomp and circumstance of June 2 and 3, 2021, the students and staff of Reynoldsburg City Schools would be remiss if we did not remember two students who would have graduated this year.
Chandra Basnet
Chandra, whose family will receive her honorary diploma from RHS’ BELL Academy on June 3, passed away on March 1, 2021. She joined RCS as a sophomore and enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program at Eastland Fairfield Career Center. She had hoped to join the United States Navy.
“If Chandra were here today, she would be so proud of her classmates for making it to this momentous occasion,” said her brother, Om.
Jonathon Baisden
Jonathon, who unexpectedly passed away in 10th grade, would have graduated from RHS’ (HS)2 STEM Academy. His family will receive his honorary diploma from former principal Mrs. Dawn McCloud.
“Jon was a very lovable kid. He was also extremely funny. There were times that when he was in trouble, he would say something hilarious and make you laugh so much it was hard to punish him,” said his mother, Sara.
Jon loved his animals and loved video games and movies. He loved to help work on cars. He was planning to be a mechanic. The family donated his organs so others could have a second chance at life.
Both Chandra and Jonathon are missed dearly by family, friends and the staff of RCS. Please join us in celebrating their graduation on June 2 and 3, 2021.
