Ten third and fourth graders from Rose Hill and Taylor Road Elementary Schools were selected to participate in the 2020-21 State Invention Convention. Superintendent Dr. Melvin J. Brown registered Reynoldsburg City Schools for the regional competition and all RCS students who participated had their ideas selected for the next round.
The Invention Convention encourages students to use problem-solving skills to create an invention, develop a prototype and take it to market. Some of the inventions were:
Seal the Smell by Vaughn S.: a kid friendly way to secure your dog poop bag with essential oils to help eliminate strong odors and germs.
Rip N Stick by Brie S.: a self adhesive wrapping paper with perforations
The GOAT Mote by Eddie G.: a remote to control your lights (brightness, on/off, different colors, from a further distance) designed for the elderly or people with mobility issues.
The Healthinator by Nischal S.: an app designed to give people information about healthier food choices. It also gives facts about junk food. The goal is to get people to make healthier choices in their diet.
The 10 students will take their ideas to the 2021 State Invention Convention on August 8, 2021 at 4:00pm on Facebook and YouTube. More than 200 judges from a variety of industries and professions volunteered to score the prototypes and pitch videos.
