Dear Reynoldsburg City Schools Staff, Students and Families,
Tonight, during a Special Board of Education meeting, and after careful consideration, discussion and closely monitoring the COVID-19 transmission rates, the Board voted to transition to making face coverings optional in all RCS facilities and schools beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
The District will continue to follow the Ohio Department of Health’s guidance for self-isolation and self-quarantine. For those opting to not wear masks, this will affect quarantine protocols. For example, if an individual has to self-isolate or quarantine, they can return to school or work (if symptoms are improving and no fever is present) after five days but will be required to wear a mask until the 10th day.
The CDC has also lifted the federal law which mandated facial coverings must be worn on public transportation, including school buses.
We realize that COVID-19 is not going away, and we are still in the pandemic phase of the virus. Parents are welcome to continue to provide and have their children wear face coverings during school hours. Staff may also wear face coverings if they so choose.
Thank you for everything you have done to keep our community healthy. We look forward to entering the endemic phase of COVID-19. If you would like your child to receive the COVID-19 vaccine or booster, you can make an appointment with Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s School-Based Health Clinic located at our RHS Livingston Campus, or call 614-355-2590 for more information. Same-day appointments may be available.
