The Board of Education makes all fiscal and policy decisions for the district. The five-member board is elected by voters who live within the school district boundaries. Terms last four years.
Responsibilities of the board include: selecting and employing a superintendent; selecting and employing a treasurer; determining an annual budget and appropriations; providing needed facilities; providing funds to operate the district; approving or rejecting the recommendations of the superintendent in matters of policy, appointment of dismissal of employees, salaries, courses of study, selection of textbooks and other matters; requiring reports of the superintendent concerning the conditions, efficiency and needs of the district; evaluating the effectiveness with which the district is achieving the educational purposes of the board, informing the public about the progress and needs of the district; and adopting policies for governance.
The public is welcome to attend board meetings, which are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month. Please visit our District Calendar for meeting information.
Visitor Requests
The Board recognizes the value to school governance of public comment on educational issues. As such, the Board has set aside 30 minutes during each regular meeting for public concerns during which individuals may address the Board members. Members of the public wishing to address the board should contact the treasurer's office at 614-501-2259 two business days before the scheduled meeting and request to be added to the agenda. Any members of the public wishing to address the Board also should be familiar with the procedures outlined in the board's policy: Public Participation at Board Meetings. (0169.1 - PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AT BOARD MEETINGS). Each statement made by a participant will be limited to three (3) minutes.
