Music Programs

Wind Ensemble is the premier concert band at Reynoldsburg High School. It is comprised of students in grades 10-12. This band studies and performs a repertoire of advanced wind band literature, which includes a variety of compositions composed or arranged for the advanced high school or college wind band. Wind Ensemble performs three concerts each year and participates in OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events. Participation in Solo and Ensemble Contest is an important part of the Wind Ensemble curriculum. Private lessons are strongly recommended for all students in this performing group.

Symphonic Band is open to all 10-12th grade students by audition. This band studies and performs a repertoire of intermediate high school wind band literature. Symphonic Band performs three concerts each year and participates in OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events. Participation in Solo and Ensemble Contest is an important part of the Symphonic Band curriculum. Private lessons are strongly recommended for all students in this performing group.

Freshman Band is open to all 9th grade students by audition. Freshman Band performs three concerts each year and participates in OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events. Participation in Solo and Ensemble Contest and private lessons are strongly recommended.

The Reynoldsburg Raider Marching Pride is one of the premier marching ensembles in the state of Ohio. The Raider Marching Pride performs at football games, parades, community events, and several competitions throughout the fall. Members of this ensemble are expected to be proficient on their instrument and demonstrate a constant drive to improve and build upon the traditions and legacy of the Raider Marching Pride. Summer rehearsals and band camp are required for membership.

Sixth grade choir is offered at Baldwin and WRMS and is open to ALL students regardless of ability or experience. It is a great way to meet new friends, learn a new skill set, and become a more confident person and performer.  In sixth grade, we focus on basic vocal technique, simple music reading concepts, and learn how to be apart of an ensemble. We also have a lot of fun!! Sixth grade choir members participate in three concerts a year with the opportunity to perform at other events as well. Some after school rehearsals are required and participation in all three concerts is mandatory. In addition, there may be some apparel expenses.

Seventh and eighth grade choir is offered at Baldwin, HAMS, and WRJH. There are no prerequisites for seventh and eighth grade choir (you do not have to take 6th grade choir to be in 7th and 8th grade choir) and we encourage everyone to join! Because choir is a bit more flexible, we welcome everyone regardless of ability or experience and students can join choir at any grade level. While we do try to build upon our skills in 7th and 8th grade choir, we continue to learn basic vocal technique, simple music reading concepts, and learn how to be apart of an ensemble. Seventh and eighth grade choir members participate in three concerts a year with the opportunity to perform at other events as well. Some after school rehearsals are required and participation in all three concerts is mandatory. In addition, there may be some apparel expenses. District required $40.00 fee applies.

This all-female group of 9th graders performs a variety of choral literature written specifically for women's voices.  The Freshman Women's Chorus performs in three concerts a year, as well as other school and community performances upon request.  Students are encouraged to participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest.  Participation in all performances is mandatory, and some after school rehearsals are required. Concert dress is required.  The District required music fee of $40.00 applies.
 

This all-female group consists of students in grades 10, 11, and 12 and performs a variety of choral literature written specifically for women's voices.  The Women's Chorus performs three concerts a year, as well as other school and community performances upon request.  Students are encouraged to participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest.  Participation in all performances is mandatory, and some after school rehearsals are required.  Concert dress is required.  The district required music fee of $40.00 applies.

This all-male group consists of students in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 and performs a variety of choral literature written specifically for men's voices.  The Men's Chorus performs three concerts a year, as well as other school and community performances upon request.  Students are encouraged to participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble Contest.  Participation in all performances is mandatory, and some after school rehearsals are required.  Concert dress is required.  The district required music fee of $40.00 applies.

This class serves as a second choir for students who wish to delve a little deeper into choral literature and technique, and perform simple choreography. The Chamber Singers perform three concerts a year, as well as other school and community performances upon request. This group also participates in OMEA Solo and Ensemble contest, as well as a shared concert with the Grove City Chamber Singers adult community choir. Participation in all performances is mandatory, and the student must also be a member of Women’s Chorus or Men’s Chorus. Invitation to join is through permission of the director. Some after school rehearsals are required, and apparel expenses are involved. 

Hand Bell Choir is open to any students who are interested in learning the technique of hand bell ringing. Students do not need to have any experience in hand bells, but music reading experience is helpful. The Hand Bell Choir performs three concerts a year, as well as other school and community performances upon request. Participation in all performances is mandatory, and some after school rehearsals are required. Concert dress is required. The district required music fee of $40.00 applies.

Sixth Grade Orchestra class is open to students starting their 1st year of playing violin, viola, cello, or bass. 

No experience is required, as this is a “beginner” class.

Students will learn how to hold the instrument properly, how to read music (note names and simple rhythms), and beginning techniques for producing proper tone, pitch, posture, and performance. Orchestra is a class designed to help build self-esteem (achievement), cooperation (playing in an ensemble), and life skills (practice, study, commitment) through the discipline of learning to play an instrument. Learning and accomplishments will be celebrated at two concerts per year. This course is a prerequisite for 7^th Grade Orchestra, unless pre-approved by the Reynoldsburg orchestra teacher.

Seventh Grade Orchestra class is open to students starting their 2nd year of playing violin, viola, cello, or bass. Students with less than 1 year of experience must be pre-approved by the Reynoldsburg Orchestra teacher. 

Students will receive guidance to improve/learn new techniques for producing proper tone, pitch, rhythm, posture, dynamics, and performance. Orchestra is a class designed to help build self-esteem (achievement), cooperation (playing in an ensemble), and life skills (practice, study, commitment) through the discipline of learning to play an instrument. Learning and accomplishments will be celebrated at each of three concerts per year. This course is a prerequisite for 8^th Grade Orchestra, unless pre-approved by the Reynoldsburg orchestra teacher.

Eighth Grade Orchestra class is open to students starting their 3rd year of playing violin, viola, cello, or bass. 

Students with less than 2 years of experience must be pre-approved by the Reynoldsburg Orchestra teacher. 

Students will receive guidance to learn more advanced techniques for producing proper tone, pitch, rhythm, posture, dynamics, and performance. Orchestra is a class designed to help build self-esteem (achievement), cooperation (playing in an ensemble), and life skills (practice, study, commitment) through the discipline of learning to play an instrument. Learning and accomplishments will be celebrated at each of three concerts per year. This course is a prerequisite for High School Orchestra, unless pre-approved by the Reynoldsburg orchestra teacher.

Berlin Orchestra is open to freshmen in their 4th year of playing the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Fewer than 3 years of experience must be pre-approved by the Reynoldsburg High School Orchestra teacher. Students learn and perform music from the Renaissance to Modern periods of music. This group will play literature in the OMEA Class B or C categories. Required after-school rehearsals are part of the curriculum. Participation in all performances (including OMEA State Orchestra Adjudicated Event and tour to the elementary schools) is mandatory. Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events are available to members of this group. Private instruction is strongly recommended.

London Orchestra consists of students with 4 or more years of playing the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Fewer than 4 years of experience must be pre-approved by the Reynoldsburg High School Orchestra teacher. Students learn and perform music from the Renaissance to Modern periods of music. This group will play literature in the OMEA Class B or C categories. Required after-school rehearsals are part of the curriculum. Participation in all performances (including OMEA State Orchestra Adjudicated Event and tour to the elementary schools) is mandatory. Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events are available to members of this group. Private instruction is strongly recommended.

Vienna Orchestra is a select performance group of students (grades 9-12) who play the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Students must audition, be accepted, and have Vienna Orchestra on their schedule EVERY DAY! Students learn and perform music from the Renaissance to Modern periods of music. This group will play literature in the OMEA Class A or B categories. Required after-school rehearsals are part of the curriculum. Participation in all performances (including OMEA State Orchestra Adjudicated Event and tour to the elementary schools) is mandatory. Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Events are available to members of this group. Private instruction is strongly recommended.
