Summit Elementary School Celebrates Blue Ribbon Schools Honor

The U.S. Department of Education named Summit Road Elementary School a National Blue Ribbon School for its outstanding academic excellence and innovation. The award is based on an elementary, middle or high school’s overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. The school had a presentation with students, staff and members of the community. Summit Road's Principal, Mrs. Drury, presented and gave an interview to a local TV station. RCS Superintendent Mrs. Thomas-Manning congratulated the students and surprised the school with an upcoming pizza party to celebrate. Congressman Pat Tiberi and Ohio State Senator Jay Hottinger also addressed the students and expressed their congratulations, telling them they can be whatever they want to be when they grow up. Finally, each student was awarded a Blue Ribbon "brag badge," a blue lollipop and a kid's meal at Texas Roadhouse.
