On Tuesday March 4th, a group of 5th grade students and teachers attended the statewide showcase to share their work on this years design challenge.
This team was one of 7 finalists selected to show their project at the elementary level. 21 total groups met at Battelle Labs to share their innovations with space experts! We were joined by WRJH team who were acknowledged for their work at the middle school level!
Their solution was to convert the International Space Station to a materials recycling center!
The cost to put 1 pound of anything in space is about $10,000! Being able to recycle in low Earth orbit is beneficial financially and conserves resources here on the planet.
We were proud to put our best work out there for science and space experts to see!
