Dear Reynoldsburg City Schools Families
We, along with the rest of the world, have been closely monitoring the impact
of COVID-19, or the coronavirus. Today, after speaking with the team leads,
Scholastica and other staff members, we decided it would be best to cancel the
eighth grade trip to Washington D.C., originally scheduled for May 6-8, 2020.
This was a very difficult decision
as we know how popular this trip is for our students. Scholastica, the trip
provider, has been very accommodating and offered to reschedule our trip or
offer refunds. While we are looking at possible dates to reschedule, we wanted
to go ahead and cancel now so we could ensure that maximum refunds are
We are looking at October 7-9, 2020
as tentative dates to reschedule. However, we are going to cancel the trip in May
in order to refund money to families and then reschedule, rather than postpone.
This way, families are ensured they receive a full refund, and if those who
were scheduled to attend the May trip, but changed their mind, or cannot go in
the fall, will not be penalized monetarily or otherwise.
Individuals who paid on behalf of
other students will receive monies paid as a refund via a check from the
Reynoldsburg City Schools Treasurer. Families who paid online will also receive
a full refund, but the transaction fee made to the credit card company is
non-refundable. We have a list of the students slated to attend, who paid for
the student(s), and will work this week to begin the process of refunds. Checks
will be placed in the mail, and we will update you when the refund process has
begun so you can look for your refund in the mail.
We sincerely apologize and are just
as disappointed as you are, but the safety and health of our families and
students is our number one priority. We thank you for your understanding.
