The Reynoldsburg City Schools Early Learning Preschool Program, a program of the Educational Services Center of Central Ohio, provides trans-disciplinary services to preschoolers (ages 3-5) with and without disabilities in public school buildings. The preschool program is located at Livingston High School.
The program is designed to provide child-centered, enriched learning activities that are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the Ohio Department of Education Early Learning Content Standards. Classrooms are divided into interest centers such as book, art, dramatic play, block building, manipulatives and sensory. Materials and activities at each interest center are individualized for the children. Busy and quiet activities alternate and time is set aside for the children to meet as a group with the teacher for planned activities.
Students with disabilities benefit from small group instruction in a supportive environment that includes interacting with typically-developing preschool peer models.
Classrooms include eight children with special needs and eight typically- developing preschool peer models. Eligibility for children with special needs is determined by a district evaluation team following the eligibility criteria established by the Ohio Department of Education.
The peer model portion of the program is tuition based and parents provide transportation. Peer models may be eligible for free or reduced tuition and transportation, based on family income.
