Principal Goes to the Wall for Her Students

Rose Hill Elementary School Principal Maria Manzola spent part of last Thursday just hanging around.

Literally.

Manzola patiently allowed herself to be duct-taped to the lunchroom wall at the school, where she then presided over a room full of giggling students from 10:45 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. March 19.

Manzola said the lunchroom antics were the result of a food drive for the HEART food pantry.

"Our goal was to raise 700 items," she said. "The students collected 1,289 items. Since we went over our goal, the students gave a suggestion for me to be taped to the wall."

Being taped to the wall won't be the only thing Manzola remembers about Rose Hill, but the incident may be her swan song. She is leaving the district when the school year ends to relocate to Florida.
