We sent this message to our families enrolled in the RCS Virtual Academy. There is no action to take at this time.
September 4, 2020
Dear Reynoldsburg City Schools Families,
You are receiving this letter because you enrolled your child in the RCS Virtual Academy. When we return to school on Monday September 21, 2020 in our hybrid model, your child will continue their learning online. You may recall our intention to partner with Edgenuity to help us staff the RCS Virtual Academy.
Here is what you need to know:
- Yesterday afternoon, we learned from Edgenuity, that they are unable to appropriately staff the RCS Virtual Academy with the needed number of teachers, despite constant assurance that staffing would not be an issue. This is a common issue our neighboring districts are experiencing with their third-party vendors.
- Due to Edgenuity not being able to appropriately staff the RCS Virtual Academy, ALL students enrolled in the Virtual Academy will livestream into their regular classes during regular class times. They will be in class with their fellow classmates who have chosen the hybrid model but will attend class remotely.
- In most cases, students will remain with their currently assigned teachers. Principals will reach out individually if there is any need for a teacher change.
We made this decision to ensure that the maximum number of our students will have consistency in teachers and ALL students will have consistency in curriculum for the entire semester.
While this is a last-minute change, we hope that knowing your child(ren) will have their regular teachers and their regular schedule comes across as good news. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Principal.
We look forward to seeing everyone the week of September 21st!
