Middle Level Summer School Helps the Environment- Part 1

Happy Meal Math

The middle level summer school program at Hannah Ashton Middle School posed a trans-disciplinary project to the students. "How do we as a community manage waste in order to improve the environmental quality in Reynoldsburg?"

The theme of the summer is waste management and improving the environment, so from math classes where students figure out how many happy meals it takes to fill a classroom, to taking a field trip to the SWACO Landfill and writing essays about their experience, keep Reynoldsburg clean is never far from mind.

Josiah, a rising 7th grader at HAMS, is studying what he calls "hydro tech," and is using the design process to turn water into fuel for cars.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of middle level summer school, where students will present their findings on June 27 and offer solutions to make Reynoldsburg a cleaner place to live!
