RCS is Awarded State Safety Grant

Reynoldsburg City Schools have been awarded more than a half million dollars to install security upgrades. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine recently announced the grant awards as part of the Ohio K-12 School Safety Grant Program.

RCS has been awarded $644,750 through a competitive process open to public school districts and chartered non-public schools. The funding can be used to pay for security cameras, public address systems, automatic door locks, visitor badging systems and exterior lighting.

“The safety of our students and staff is a top priority,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Jocelyn Cosgrave. “This grant allows us to upgrade security equipment at several District buildings without expending our general funds.”

The funding has been approved for security upgrades at:
  • French Run Elementary
  • Hannah J. Ashton Middle School
  • Herbert Mills STEAM Elementary
  • Reynoldsburg High School
  • Rose Hill Elementary
  • STEM Middle at Baldwin Road Junior High School
The RCS Safety & Security Office is developing a project schedule.

“I am very excited to receive this grant for the students and staff of our District,” said Safety & Security Director Jim Ramsey. “The funds will go a long way to further our safety efforts.”

The grant program is administered by the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission in partnership with the Ohio School Safety Center.
