Dear Encore Academy Families,

What a pleasure it is to be in Reynoldsburg as the Encore Academy leader for the 2014-2015 school year. I am anxious and excited to meet the wonderful students and families of Encore Academy that I have heard so much about from Mrs. Myers, Ms. Gorsuch, and the rest of the caring and respected teachers of Reynoldsburg City Schools.

My time in education over the past twelve years has been quite rewarding. I was a teacher at Hannah Ashton Middle School in Reynoldsburg for seven of those years, and just recently, I was an academy leader for a college readiness academy at Zanesville High School. I have continued to learn and grow in my profession by collaborating with colleagues, students, and families, to make my classroom and school the best that they could be; I plan on continuing this tradition as I move forward as the leader of Encore Academy.

I have been busy preparing for the transition into the new school year. This includes working on a master schedule that will meet the needs of all students. Please be patient as we work diligently this summer to be sure that all students have the schedule they need to graduate, and most importantly, to find a career path that is best suited for them. It is our hope that all students will have an accurate schedule in hand by August 6th at Raider Check-In. In July, you will be getting a letter from our new College and Career Readiness Counselor, Sarah Rollison, that will give you more detailed scheduling information as we transition to the new year.

Thank you for trusting me to help your child take the necessary steps towards a bright future. This is a job that I take very seriously and one that I am honored to do. With every decision I make I will always keep all of our students first in my mind and heart; this is my promise to you and your family.

Have a great rest of the summer!

Dr. Jocelyn Cosgrave

Encore Academy Leader

Commissioners honor scholars, artists
The Franklin County Commissioners recognized four students from Reynoldsburg High School’s Encore Academy for excellence in the fields of academics and art at their general session May 6. Reynoldsburg scholars Kevin Quach and Haley Layton and artists Katelyn Beck and Katherine Vandergriff were among 34 Franklin County students honored. The objective of the High School Student Artists and Scholars Recognition Program, done in partnership with the Greater Columbus Arts Council, is to encourage area students to “strive for excellence in all areas of their school work,” according to Marilyn Brown, commission president. “Too often the academic and artistic accomplishments of our students go uncelebrated.” She said the commissioners hope to make it an annual program. Prior to the meeting, the arts council hosted a breakfast for students, their families, and school representatives.
