The goals of our guidance program are to help students develop socially, emotionally and academically and to maintain the safe and positive climate of our school. Research shows that social-emotional learning helps students achieve academically and improves positive behavior of students.

Vision Statement

The students of Reynoldsburg City Schools are high achieving learners who, upon graduation, are college and career ready by participating in a rigorous curriculum with high quality opportunities that develop self-directed personal growth.

Mission Statement

The comprehensive school support program promotes success by fostering attainable goals for each individual student. We are prepared to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, and caregivers to achieve academic, social/emotional, and career readiness.

The Student Support Professionals believe:

  1. All students can learn and grow when given the right supports.
  2. Every student is valuable and treated with dignity and respect.
  3. All students can expect that the school is a safe and nurturing environment.
  4. Comprehensive programs help ensure equitable access to opportunities and rigorous curriculum for all students to participate fully in the educational process.
  5. Our programs are a collaborative effort between families, other educators and community partnerships.

Role of Taylor Road Elementary School Counselor

School support professionals provide direct and indirect services to students, parents, school staff and the community in the following areas:
 
 School counseling core curriculum: 
This curriculum consists of structured lessons designed to help students attain the desired competencies and to provide all students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills appropriate for their developmental level. The school counseling core curriculum is delivered throughout the school’s overall curriculum and is systematically presented by school counselors in collaboration with other professional educators in K-12 classroom and group activities

Classroom Guidance Lessons
             Unit 1: Skills for Learning
             Unit 2: Empathy 
             Unit 3: Emotion Management 
             Unit 4: Problem Solving
             Unit 5: Bully Prevention 
 
Small Groups - These groups meet for 6 - 8 weeks on specific topics such as friendship, confidence, anxiety, divorce, grief, and self-control.
 
Individual Counseling - Students may meet with me individually to discuss concerns. Referrals may be made to outside counseling for ongoing or family concerns.
 
Character Education: Lessons on the Terrific Tornado Traits and coordinate the Student-of-the-Month Recognition program. *Special thank you to our sponsors: Lazer Kraze, Skyline Chilli, United Skates, Frisch's, Turkey Hill, Buffalo Wild Wings and Culver's 
 
Response to Intervention (RtI) Coordination: When data indicates a student needs extra support with academics or behavior, an RtI meeting is scheduled.  
 
Character Council Co-AdvisorThe 4th grade Character Council works to serve our school and community by completing various service projects and serve as role models for the rest of the student body. 
 
Tornado Aides  - 4th grade School Counseling Office helpers.
 
Lunch Bunch- Students are invited to have lunch with the School Counselor.
